A marketing agency dedicated to the security industry
Nobody had to teach us this industry
Alex Chavez and David Morgan met in 2008 and went on to build this agency together. It works with the electronic security industry and nothing else — 300+ dealers, integrators, manufacturers and solution providers, and no learning curve billed to any of them.
Why this matters
Somebody pays for the learning curve
A generalist agency has to be taught the security industry. That education never appears as a line on the invoice, but you pay for it anyway — in the first two quarters of the budget, while your agency works out what RMR is, why a burg lead is useless to a commercial integrator, why the spec was settled months before the bid went out, and why the floor at ISC West is a sales channel rather than a branding exercise.
You have probably already paid it once. The kickoff call where you explained the channel. The twelve-month brand awareness plan handed to a company that needed installs booked next quarter. The leads that turned out to be homeowners shopping for a doorbell camera. By the time the agency understood the business well enough to be useful, the money that was supposed to grow it had gone on tuition.
We had nothing to learn on your money. Security is not a vertical inside a broader agency here, or a practice area we grew into — it is the entire client list. That is the whole argument for hiring us, and everything further down this page is just evidence for it.
Who runs this
Two names, and both of them answer
Agencies like to introduce their team. What an owner about to hand over a marketing budget actually wants to know is narrower than that: who will still be picking up the phone in two years.
Alex Chavez, President, and David Morgan, Vice President, met in 2008 and went on to build SD Marketing together. They still run it. Partnerships that survive that long are not especially common in this business, and neither are agencies where the people who own the place are the people you deal with.
It cuts the other way too: most of our clients stay five years or more, which is the same relationship viewed from your side of the table.

We write the column
Marketing Madmen runs monthly in SDM Magazine, and we write it. A trade magazine gives a standing column to people its readers already recognise — and it is the cheapest possible audit of how we think. Read a few before you spend anything with us.
We are on the show floor
We exhibit at the industry's trade shows nationwide, which means you can walk up and ask us the awkward questions in person. We also produced the SIA showcase videos at ISC East and ISC West.
Work you may have seen
Campaigns and video for Geutebruck and Uniview. The Alarm Guys reached up to 90 leads in a single month with us. None of it required a briefing on what a central station does.
Due diligence
Check us out before you spend a dollar
You are deciding whether to hand your marketing budget to people you have not met. We would want to look into us too. Three ways to do it that do not involve talking to a salesperson.
- 01
Read the column
Marketing Madmen, monthly, in SDM Magazine. A year of it will tell you more about how an agency thinks than any capabilities deck.
- 02
Find us at a show
We exhibit nationwide. Come to the booth, describe your market, and see whether we need it explained. Ten minutes on a show floor beats a discovery call.
- 03
Ask the industry
We have served 300+ security dealers, integrators, manufacturers and solution providers. In an industry this small, somebody at your next association meeting has an opinion about us.
Tell us what you sell and where
Rather just call?
